Who we are

SONIXUS is an independent music project and radio based in Switzerland. This policy covers the website sonixus.live (including radio.sonixus.live and media.sonixus.live) and the SONIXUS app for Android. Questions and requests: contact@sonixus.live.

The short version

There is no account and no sign-in. There are no advertisements. We do not sell or share data for advertising. Listening is anonymous: we count plays, not people.

The website

• Listening statistics. When a track plays, we record which track it was and the country, city, device type, operating system and browser family derived from the connection. These figures are kept in aggregate for up to 13 months. We do not store IP addresses, full browser signatures, names or e-mail addresses.
• A listener identifier. A random identifier is kept in your browser's local storage so that hearts, reactions, "not for me" and playlists work without an account. It stays on your device; clearing the site data removes it.
• Cookies. One cookie remembers that you have already heard the station anthem. A separate cookie exists only on the owner's browser.
• Comments. If you leave a comment, the name you choose and the text are stored and shown after review.
• Google Analytics. The website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits (pages viewed, approximate location, device category). Google describes its processing in its privacy policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Hosting and delivery. Pages and audio are delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data (including the IP address) to serve requests and to block abuse, as described in its own policy.

The Android app

• No account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics library inside the app.
• The app downloads the catalogue, the radio schedule and the audio files from our servers. As with any internet connection, your IP address is visible to our hosting provider for delivery and abuse protection; SONIXUS does not store it.
• Favourites, "not for me", equaliser settings and the sleep timer are stored only on your device.
• Permissions: internet and network state (streaming), foreground service and notifications (playback with the screen off), vibration (haptic feedback) and audio settings (equaliser). The app does not request the camera, the microphone, your contacts or your location.
• Purchases, when they become available, are handled by Google Play. SONIXUS receives only what Google Play provides to developers, never card details.

Children

The website and the app are not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where it applies, the GDPR, you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted. Write to contact@sonixus.live.
